Editing Process Blog

In today blog, we focused on editing our computer had some issues at first and we had to get another computer . After that we moved to a faster computer and starting to open pinnacle studios. After we finished opening our application we  we had to figure out how things worked we had to locate the import button we had to locate the export button and find out how to drag out ajj the files  on to the app. Once we found that out things were way easier. We learn things way quicker. First we were worried our  videos weren’t gonna be saved.

.We were at 36 seconds and were able to cut it down to 28 seconds. We then had to find a SD card reader to import the voiceover I did at home over the weekend. We also detached the audio from all the videos to replace with the voiceover. We had a difficult time trying to detach the audio. We then figure out that it was on a separate location from the rest of the videos. So we looked and moved something around and were finally able to search the audio. We had to review the voice over. Add the right music and make the right fade ins and out.

We then cut the voiceover. There were many overlaps and pauses. We filled those pauses and cut as much was needed. We then looked for a song to use in the background of the commercial. After listening to a few, we found one. We added it to the background and cut most of it, since the commercial was only around 30 seconds. We found it difficult to cut our commercial back to 28 seconds because we decided to add a Nike Just Do It black screen at the end. We kept cutting and adding things to make it perfect we thought it was a good idea to put Nike cutout in the end. To make it more like a Nike ad and it worked out fine I learned many things that I could use later on. This blog was very fun to make. Then we had editing which was exciting at the same time.  Pinnacle studio was kinda buggy but we made things work and made our commercial pretty well looking. Overall in conclusion editing was an easy task we had some obstacles but we hopped over them and made our project look and sound good.

Film blog

Me and my partner had a lot of fun filming. My partner and I went outside to the track. We set up our camera on the tripod and began filming. We took the storyboard and filmed every scene how it was planned out. The first one we filmed was the running scene. I began recording and my partner ran across the grass. Then I filmed him tying his shoes.
The commercial is for Nike so we focused on the clothes a lot in the footage. It was very hot outside so we tried to work quick. However, we still worked hard and finished before class ended, leaving us with enough time to dump our videos to our computer. Before we left the track, we had to find a soccer ball to use in one scene. It was difficult to get it because someone was using it and they took long. My partner, however, was able to find another soccer ball that wasn’t being used. We set up the tripod again and recorded.
My favorite scene to film was the tilt. This was the only scene that was handheld so it felt more interactive. I started shooting feet. He had some nice Nike shoes on. Then, I worked my way up, revealing his Nike shorts and Nike shirt. It was also very interesting to see all the other groups work around us and their filming process. We then realized it was getting late so we packed our things and headed to the classroom. Once we were back, we set up the SD card reader to our computer and dumped all our footage.

Storyboard Blog

Our storyboard was made off the idea of a typical Nike ad. We plan to recreate the imagery and inspiration that a Nike as creates in our storyboard our drawings consists of us dressed in Nike clothes doing certain activities like playing soccer, tying our shoe, or running on the track and bleachers. In our storyboard we have many poses with the clothing. When creating our script I thought of things that narrators usually say in Nike ads and we put them together to make a pretty good script with many motivational sayings to interact with the audience.

We had to make sure our 6 storyboard scenes all had a shot to go with it. We used the extreme close up, the long shot, and the high angle and the tilt shot. To create this storyboard research about Nike related advertising was needed to be done we learnt about  Nike’s advertising techniques and how they draw in their viewers and incorporated that into our storyboard. We hope that the story board will make our commercial go much smoother and easier.

Editing blog

Editing blog

In today’s media studies editing lessons we learned many of the basics of editing, we learnt how the camera works and how to attach it to a tripod, we learned the procedure of signing out a camera and the procedure, like the equipment form, and that we can’t sign out the camera over long breaks, on the equipment form we need the period, the date, our student number and the equipment number. We learned to turn the form to get the camera bag.

In the editing part of the lesson we learned to dump and import footage into pinnacle studios and to import the footage from the SD card to the computer, I now know that we must make a folder so we know where to find footage and also that once you import  all the footage it is all accessible in pinnacle studios, Mrs Katz also taught us some basics of editing like detaching and reataching audio from clips, adding titles and text to the screen, i knew most of these things already, but it was a good recap.

Planning blog

Today, we are planning what we would do the day of filming. In our nike commercial, we will be using voiceover. Using voiceover has a more professional feel than just talking in the footage we take. We will take footage of nike shoes and clothes. It will be multiple shots of someone running around the track or doing some sort of exercise. We will also use low angle in many of the running shots.

Props: Basketball,  Soccer ball , Gold medal,

Costume: We will use Nike clothes and shoes  and Nike accessories

Schedule: 10/10 Planning 10/12 Storyboard 10/14 filming

Location: We will film on the track of our school & on the bleachers

Backup Location: We will film at the stairway near the cafeteria to run up and down. It could be used if on the day of filming, it rains, and we can’t use the track. We still hope to capture the affect of exercise or being active while not being on the track.

We are making a Nike commercial, for our commercial we are making our advertisement based on nike sneakers, Nike clothing, Nike sportswear and Nike accessories, our commercial will highlight the key features of Nike products most Nike products. Nike commercials often  give a scenario and then reveal the brand logo at the end so in our commercial we might try to do something like that, Nike commercials also have models that wear the clothing so I can pull out some Nike clothing,

Nike commercials usually have a setting with good lighting whether it’s a basketball court, a house or just the outside they always have good lighting, our Nike commercials will have a plot and it will showcase how Nike clothing benefits your sports and makes you more competitive. As props we plan to use Nikewear and  maybe create a scenario where it highlights our clothing or just walk with the clothes with maybe a voiceover or sound in the background.
