Filming blog The Preparation

Unfortunately, I have not started filming yet, this is for many reasons ,me and my group mate have not figured out a day where we are both available.  We have decided where we are filming, and what shots and angles we will be using in each scene.  What we are trying to do is film In separate locations at our own time, but we plan to link the footage of our video together to make a good video, my goal is to find a good time where I can film In a good environment with my brother or my sister, I plan on filming everything  in one day or so so I don’t have worry about rushing but I will not allow myself to procrastinate
My goal in this project while filming to get more comfortable around the camera and be able to film a scene without getting nervous. To film our actual music video, we will be using one of our group members phones. On the last project we did, the Nike commercial, we used the camera provided by our teachers. But, for this project we have decided that we want to try something new. That is why we will be using one of our iPhones instead of the cameras we can use iMovie and edit footage around easier and send our footage to each other, things will be much easier with our mobile devices so that’s what we decided to do. I also need to clean the setting of the music video which invites loves the living room and bedroom before I film.

I will not be needing any transportation besides many a walk to a nearby park to shoot some scenery. I will be filming most of the project at home. I need to make sure the story boards accurate and make sure that while we are filming we are including the right amount of angles and that we are identifying them correctly. I will ensure the shots and angles we have on our storyboard correlate with the shots and angles in our music video. I also need to set up my costumes such as my “lazy clothes” and I need to get my props set up.

Storyboard blog

For our storyboard we had 6 shots. Each shot would be around 20 seconds. In our first shot I had me or my partner writing on a piece of paper. The goal was to write bored on the paper and look exhausted so the viewers knows why the shot was added. It went with the lyrics of bruno mars saying today I dont feel like doing anything. Our next shot was a scene in a bed where we are recorded lying down fake sleeping in a pajamas or something sleepy and over  it will be the lyrics, I just wanna lay in my bed. This setting will fit the song and provide a good support to the video. For our 3rd scene we thought about doing a phone call part where someone is recorded on a phone with lyrics playing behind dont feel like picking up the phone, so leave a message at the tone. This will be great for the video.
Our 4th scene in the storyboard would be when Bruno says turn the TV on. We were thinking of having a tv playing in the movie frame this would add a good cinematic effect to our music video. Because the Music Video will be looped in the one minute 15 sec our 5th scene will include us sitting on a couch relaxing lip syncing to I’ll be lounging on the coach just chillin In My Snuggie... then We will cut to the 6th scene with the first scenes relooked lyrics “today I don’t feel like doing anything with a silly mask or something to draw humor.

Blog 1 Planning

1. Location for our video since we will be filming in our own time I could maybe film in a nearby mall or park depending on the location that fits the scene of our video. The location could be my house for some of the scenes outdoors or in my room or living room. For our film we will be careful with safety but we will not need a first aid or any health packs because we will not doing anything to dangerous in our video. Some props we might end up using will be accessories to fit the costumes of our videos we could use jewelry as a prop.

We also could use a microphone as a prop. We are still deciding on many key features of our music videos the costumes we were thinking about are costumes being based on a modern every day teenager or kid so we we dress to play the role  We were focusing on a up beat song that would be was to parody with out singing. The setting could vary since we are doing it in different locations it could be two different characters with similar stories but differences at the same time. we could possibly use props like sunglasses hats themed to our song and other accessories.

We also might switch it up and decide to not incorporate props into the video. Since we are probably doing a Bruno mars song The lazy song. our setting would maybe be our house. we will include scenes like our beds our TVs and other things that would make us seem lazy. A costume we may add is a snuggie or a pajama one peice because in the song bruno talks about putting one on.

Intro to New Project blog

Our commercial was a good learning experience now we are on to the music project, the commercial taught me how to manage time, how to storyboard and how to be more productive while filming, the process of editing wasn’t smooth the first time but now things should be easier now that we actually know what we’re doing. The music video should be very fun and we should learn a lot of more things about filming that we didn’t know before.
This music video we should  showcase the song we were doing in good fashion  For costumes, we are going to be wearing basic, every-day clothing. We want the music video to look modern, so we are going to be wearing normal, modern clothing, the acting will be me and my group mate We may also use other locations that we find while editing. We will be doing pan camera movements, medium close up, and tracking shots. There will be no sound because the music will be the sound for the video.
We will use jump cuts to show the transition between different settings and scenes. We chose a song that we thought fit our personality. we like that it is a happy song with a good beat. We also chose it because we believe it will be a good song to make a music video for. The genre of this song is Pop.  We were thinking of doing two songs maybe old town road by lil nas x or Roxanne by Arizona zervas. We were focusing on a up beat song that would be was to parody with out singing. The setting could vary since we are doing it in different locations it could be two different characters with similar stories but differences at the same time. we could possibly use props like sunglasses hats themed to our song and other accessories.
 1. Costume: Since the song and music video came out in the 90s, the costumes will be try to recreate it by using slip dresses and sequin or animal prints.
2. Lighting: We will use very little lighting. We don’t want it to be too bright because we will use colored lights.
3. Actors: My friend will be playing Britney Spears in the music video. We will also use a few other kids to be in the background, dancing.
4. Makeup: We will be using many makeup looks used in the 90s. We will be crimping hair and blue eyeshadow. We will also use body glitter.
5. Props: Some props used will be chairs to sit on.
6. Sound: Sound will be the song.

Real Editing blog

After everything that went wrong the first time we blogged, we were unsure we would finish our product. Things happened like the computer being too slow, Pinnacle studios also crashed. When we actually got into to studios are files didn’t save. It was a nightmare I was so worried that I would get a 0 because we had nothing to film with, luckily at the end of class I recovered my files. But we still had a problem of time and how we would edit, we were so luck and happy to hear that the date had been pushed back because everyone else was having similar problems to us. This experience taught me to not waste time and to be productive while editing. It was hard to sort all of our files into a folder dump again and try to do the whole process again but we did. The next class we were back on it but instead of the broken school computers we were using small faster school laptops with pinnacle studios on it. We hopped back into editing.

The editing process was stressful because we only had 35 minutes to edit our whole project. We started with many overlaps and pauses. We filled those pauses and cut as much was needed. We then looked for a song to use in the background of the commercial. After listening to a few, we found one. We added it to the background and cut most of it, since the commercial was only around 30 seconds. We found it difficult to cut our commercial back to 28 seconds because we decided to add a Nike Just Do It black screen at the end. We kept cutting and adding things to make it perfect. In order for the Just Do It scene to fit, we had to cut a lot of our videos. Some of which started off as 5 seconds, ended up being 2 or 3 seconds. However, it felt like it was mandatory to fit the Just Do It scene because it is a Nike commercial.

The audio matched up to the videos, and music was set. The music was at the right volume level. After we added the Nike ending we added finishing touches and saved it as a mp4 and a avi. It took like 8 minutes to export. We saved it on both the laptop and google drive gmail, the final editing process was exciting and chaotic we had to rush a lot of things into one 35 minute period  but I feel it came out pretty good.
